Maltepe District

With over half million residents, Maltepe district is a well-known seaside Istanbul town located between Kadıköy and Kartal district neighborhoods in the south-east coastline of Istanbul. Sabiha Gökçen (SAW) International Airport is approximately 29 km from Maltepe town center. While taking this distance, visitors can enjoy the scenic area where Prince Islands scenery and vivid city life set off each other. Apart from location-specific features, there is another factual basis to Maltepe’s pride that one quarter of its population, almost 123.000 people, is composed of under 18 years old. It provides the town with a considerable advantage in joining Erasmus+ youth projects.

Maltepe District Governorship

Maltepe District Governorship is the most superior public authority in the Maltepe district. It is in charge of all public services supplied in the district such as education, health care, security, sports and so on. For its administrative capacity, the Governorship is responsible for many of the day-to-day services almost as much as a small country with 82 public schools, 3 police stations, 2 hospitals, 1 old-age asylum. More particularly, Maltepe District Governorship coordinates 12 local offices including Local Directorate of National Education, Youth and Sports Department, Foreign Affairs and Europen Union Project Office, Central Police Department, Health Department, Land Registry, Civil Registry, Legislative Office, Food-Agriculture-Livestock Department, Revenue Department, Solidarity Foundation, and 18 elected leaders of these neighborhood units.
